Jonathan’s men lock down AGIS over C-of-Os

Less than two weeks to end Jonathan’s administration, some of his principal aides have literally taken over the Abuja Geographic Information System, AGIS,ostensibly to perfect their title deeds before the May 29 handover.

Fortunately, AGIS is reportedly raking in millions of naira in revenue from this development due to payment of huge sums of money by the presidential aides to secure their Certificate of Occupancy, C of O, before expiration of the outgoing FCT administration.

Some of the aides were said to be mounting pressure on the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, to sign last-minute contract papers for them.

An unimpeachable source told National Mirror yesterday that a senior aide in Jonathan’s media team has literally relocated his office from the Presidential Villa to AGIS in Area 11, Garki, just to ensure he tidies up his land documents as quickly as possible.

Also, an executive of the pilgrims’ commission is reported to be neck-deep in the drive to secure land titles beforethe handover date.

Staff of AGIS are said to be on the edge due to increasing pressure on them to yield to the demands of the presidential aides.

One of them told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the president’s media aide had even before the elections exerted tremendous pressure on AGIS to get his land documents out immediately.

Our source was, however, unspecific on the size of land the presidential aides were gunning for, but an insider confirmed that the land acquisition by the presidential aides range from private use to mass housing.
