Abia PDP Accuses APGA Of Masterminding Card Reader Theft

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has accused the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) of masterminding the theft of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Card Readers in the state.

At an interactive session with reporters in Umuahia, the state’s capital, the legal team of the PDP alleged that the drama behind the INEC Card Readers’ theft among many others that were being perpetrated and orchestrated by the APGA and its leadership were targeted at triggering sentiments and score cheap emotional blackmail.

The Legal Adviser of the PDP in Abia State, Mr Gabriel Igboko, led the team. They tried to put an end to insinuations about the INEC Card Readers’ theft.

Meanwhile, APGA has filed a petition at the Electoral Petition Tribunal, sitting in Umuahia, against the declaration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, as the winner of the Abia State Governorship election held in April.

Joined in the suit are INEC and the Peoples Democratic Party.

The party also said that whatever claim the PDP was making were pointless, as they will not give not give up their mandate.

According to them, the APGA Governorship candidate, Dr. Otti was the winner of the 2015 polls.

In their petition, they are seeking the  nullification of the election results of Obingwa, Osisioma, Isialangwa-North and two other Local Government Areas for alleged electoral malpractices and misconduct.

However, the legal team of the PDP, led by Mr Ann Uchendu, said they were not deterred, as they had prepared the evidence to meet them in court.

Even though the electorates in Abia State have spoken by voting the candidates of their choice, it seems they may have to keep faith and wait for the outcome of the Election Tribunal.
