Adams Oshiomole, a 2023 presidential aspirant was a guest on Arise news and he was asked to talk about his relationship with Bola Tinubu, because he is known to be a very close ally of Asiwaju Tinubu, so how does he feel running against him and what exactly has happened. Read Adams Oshiomole's response to that question below.
"Asiwaju is a man I respect very much, when he was the governor of Lagos State I was the president of the Nigeria labour congress (NLC) and i gave him as much trouble as i could, I forced him to pay minimum wage, I engaged him in social issues and I also admire some of the things he achieved in Lagos with a small revenue base of about N600 million that time and by the time he left office he had raised the revenue base to an enviable level. Today if any governor is talking about internally generated revenue you cannot but acknowledge the pioneering effort of Bola Tinubu.
But the good news is that the presidency of Nigeria and my candidature is not against Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and when you talk about ally the context should not be between opponent or advasary, we are friends i respect him and I am sure he has some respect for me, some of those that Asiwaju raised from zero are also contesting, but I was already a household name before I became the president of NLC and before i became the governor of Edo state. We met in the same party, he formed APC and ACN and i was the second governor on ACN platform, i respect him and I am sure Bola Ahmed Tinubu understands that the presidency is not about him but it is about Nigeria".
