On behalf of Diaspora Nigerians and Nigerians at large, APC USA International Secretariat wishes to express its gratitude to President Obama and Americans for hosting President Buhari in Washington D.C.
The 4-day visit was extraordinary, timely and worthy, encompasses:
- Accommodation at Blair House;
- Meeting with President Obama and team at the White House;
- Breakfast with Vice President Joe Biden;
- Met with West African diplomats, World Bank executives, and members of the U.S. Congress;
- Dinner with US Chamber of Commerce & the Corporate Council on Africa and
- Met with most of his classmates of US War College class of 80
Nigerians are highly honored to have President Buhari accommodated at 191 year old Blair House, Mr. President is the 1stNigerian leader and 2ndleader from West Africa to stay in the house built in 1824. The house has played significant roles since 190 years of American, diplomatic, Political and of course cultural history.
A Word is Enough for the Wise! This figurative expression is to address Mr. President’s subsequent visits and elsewhere; notably necessary to reiterate and strongly in support of President Muhammadu Buhari classified statements:
- The purpose of his visit was not to meet with Nigerian businessmen or politicians, but with US officials and Nigerians in the Diaspora;
- Warned close aides not to smuggle anyone into his official meetings with US officials;
- Any infractions will result with the person involved being fired with immediate effect.
- Directed the Department of State Protocol in Abuja to open a desk at the Aso Rock Villa that would facilitate direct access to him when any Nigerian wants to see him in Nigeria;
- Determined to eliminate the role of corrupt officials, middlemen and family members who profit from selling access to the Presidency.
We gathered this event means a lot to both Presidents; expected to outshoot accumulated upheavals between both countries, ascribing to: bilateral relationship, business development, peace and security in West Africa region.
Once again, APC USA International Secretariat appreciates President Obama warm reception, as Nigerians look forward to a reciprocal visit very shortly, President Obama’s visit to Nigeria is expected to be classified, historical and the best visit to any Africa country, environed and envisaged!
