The traditional ruler of Ibedeni Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Jonathan Ede Oshimilikanegede, has blasted politicians from Ndokwa extraction for being ungrateful to the Ndokwa electorate who voted them into power.

The royal father was speaking at the backdrop of the failure of the politicians to honour the invitations extended to them by a youth group, Coalition of Ndokwa Peace Ambassadors (CONPA), to grace the grand finale of the peace campaign at Travelers Café in Kwale, the administrative headquarters of Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The monarch said they were not to blame, saying “I expected many of our politicians to be here but unfortunately they are not here. If this programme were organised before the general elections, they would have been here because they know they need the youths for the election business, but now they cannot be here because elections are gone.”

The event with the theme “See It And Say It” had Hon. Rev. Chukwudi Eke, as Chairman; Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as Special Guest of Honour; Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Friday Osanebi, as Guest of Honour; Chief Fidelis Tilije Okenmor, former Governorship aspirant under APC and current Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources, as Father of the Day and all Ndokwa politicians as Special Guests, only the monarch and Chukwudi Eke were present at the event.

The monarch said he had consistently avoided invitations to events because he cannot see wrong and refuse to mention it even to the most powerful in the political circle.

He said politicians are only friends when elections are coming close, maintaining that, “before elections when you call them, they immediately call you back but as soon as elections are gone, the phones go dead.

“But now that elections are gone, they can’t come to our local level because they do not need us again. Let God begin to bring down those who say without them we cannot exist.”

The event was the closing ceremony of a seven-day peace campaign event which saw the group campaigning for peace round all Ndokwa communities in the state.

The closing ceremony featured speeches aimed at promoting peace and development in the area.
