AFTER being sworn in for his second term on Friday may 29, 2015 by the Oyo State Chief Judge, Governor Abiola Ajimobi stated that his emergence had effectively banished the era of ‘Amala’ politics.

Ajimobi to vowed to consolidate on the peaceful atmosphere that characterised his first term, adding that by re-electing him for another four years, an end has come to petty political grievances and unfounded allegations capable of destabilising the collective resolve to move the state forward.

Although, the ceremony was peaceful, glamorous and with impressive turnout, former civilian governors in the state were absent at the event held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.

The former governors that were absent at the ceremony include Rashidi Ladoja, the governorship candidate of Accord Party, who is currently challenging the declaration of the Ibadan-born-governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adebayo Alao-Akala, and Omololu Olunloyo.

Only two former Military Administrators, Admiral Toye Sode and Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd), were among other eminent people that attended the event.

‘Amala’ politics, which is simply a crude brand of welfarist politics, is the same as the politics of ‘Stomach Infrastructure’ being preached by the Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose.

Historically, the late strongman of Ibadan politics, Lamidi Adedibu was the architect of ‘Amala politics in Oyo state.
