Nigeria's Senate President Bukola Saraki is currently on trial at the code of conduct tribunal for fraud in asset declaration while in office.
According to the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), if found guilty, Saraki shall be face any or all of the following:
1. removal from office,
2. disqualification from holding any public office
3. forfeiture to the state, any property acquired in abuse of office.
However the tribunal chairman, Justice Danladi Umar before adjourning the case to October 21-23rd had ruled that the charges are criminal in nature.
Therefore it's possible criminal punishments be applied.
