We Regret Voting For Jonathan In 2011, But We’ll Vote For Him Again–Middle Belt

The middle belt region of Nigeria has said the President Jonathan led federal government has turned out a huge disappointment to the region but that won’t stop the people of the region from giving the incumbent a fresh mandate next February.

“There is general anger and disappointment in our communities against the Jonathan-led Federal Government as a result of the sad reality that despite the huge political investment by our people for the purpose of electing him in 2011, there has been no commensurate political patronage in terms of projects and appointments,” the communiqué issued after a summit of the Middle Belt Dialogue in Jos, read in part.

Delegates from the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states attended the summit. The facilitators of the summit were Messrs Aminu Zang, Lanre Obafemi, Rima Shawulu and Mark Jacob.

The communique added that the genocide now being perpetrated in the region by terrorist sect Boko Haram has disrupted Agricultural activities which is the major source of livelihood for the locals. However, the communique expressly stated that President Jonathan is assured of bloc votes from the region nonetheless on February 14.
