Abia State Diasporas take a look at Alex Otti and his credential to be the next Abia States’ governor-

Time and again, when political parties release their platforms, voters are left to hunt through printed material, websites or PDFs to find relevant sections of the platform that will allow them to compare ideas, value statements and policy commitments. Abia Diasporas, a key stakeholder in the socio-economic and political developments in Abia State of Nigeria has undertaken to use this venue to set yardsticks for accountability for the next administration. In this case, Alex Otti, and his action plan catches the interests of this Abia Diaspora.

This is a message of expectations from an Abia Diaspora. The message is simple, and should be taken as the framework and or comparative tool for letting voters make informed decision and hopefully support Alex Otti, a seasoned money manager with declared interest in improving human and infrastructural capital development in Abia. Alex Otti appears to have an acute understanding of Abia State’s socio-economic relevance to the rest of Nigeria. In his platform, Alex Otti declared his commitment to Abia people and threw in challenge that anybody vying for governor of Abia should aspire towards. He declared that vying for the position of governor;

•     Must be a no nonsense tactician that is not bestowed to the sycophants
•     Must be acutely aware that he/she is the servant of the people with the burden of public trust; in other word, must know that rank    does not give rights or privilege, but rather imposes responsibility
•     Must have basic education in money, human infrastructural and or understanding of socio-economics of Abia State Diasporas, Nigeria and global connects
•     Must have a balance approach to money and people management; in other word, he/she must be fiscally conservative and socially liberal
•     Must be ideologically-motivated to push for balance budget; meaning expenditures must be equal to revenues
•     Must be adroit to the emerging trends in treasury and money , Financial Control and Risk Management
•     Must deploy all areas of the economy; agriculture, balanced budgets, democratic reform, economy, education, energy policies, environment, health care, law & justice, oil & gas, seniors/aging, transportation and tourism to seek sustainable growth and development in Abia State Diasporas.
•   Aspirants of all stripes need to set their policies with the understanding that the environment is a very high priority in the health and wellness of our human capital
•  Must pay particular attention to "Skills Acquisition as a vital component of our youth Human Capital Development in Abia State Diasporas
•  Abia State Diasporas do not just want a governor; they want the government that will make the citizenry proud of their heritage.

If the next Abia State government is not based on leadership, willingness to work hard and fairness reigning over deception, accountability always at the back of the minds of people entrusted with public trust, the tendency is that the same old mediocrity will continue. This Abia Diaspora envisions in this 2015 election, an Abia State where people can vote and be voted for, with their votes meaning something.   A state that is devoid of togs; meaning togs need not apply for the highest public trust Abia state. Meritocracy should be the system, as it gives opportunities and advantages to people on the basis of their ability to govern and provide basic needs. Mediocrity has no place in any progressive democracy.
