President Muhammadu Buhari has restated that he isn’t particularly bothered about those who consider his pace of governance very slow thus far. The president was speaking during a press conference on the sidelines of the India-Africa Summit, which just came to a close in New Delhi.
Buhari assured Nigerians who are not corruptly enriching themselves with public funds, not to be afraid of the war he is waging against corruption and that they should rather encourage him to get whoever had compromised their position and the trust placed in them.
Buhari said he remained resolute in the fight against graft and would want to be remembered as the man who fought larceny to a standstill.
Following the confirmation of his 36 ministerial picks by the senate this week, Buhari said he’ll prune down the ministries so that government can afford to pay salaries.
He’s also been accused of being slow in getting off the blocks since he assumed the reins. And for those who have often inflicted this charge on him, Buhari repeated his now famous riposte:“They call me baba go slow, but I will go slow and steady”.
Suit yourself, Mr. President.
