Former Nigerian president Obasanjo launches ‘My Watch’ book in Nairobi

The statesman shared his thoughts on 'My Watch' being banned in Nigeria, Boko Haram and President Goodluck Jonathan in an interview with eNCA

Former Nigerian President Obasanjo launched his 1500 paged autobiography, My Watch in Nairobi’s Serena Hotel earlier this week. “We could not launch the memoirs in Nigeria in the most ordinary way. We had to do a public presentation. We have been accused of contempt of court because some people wanted to block their publication,” Obasanjo said.

In an interview with eNCA during his time in Nairobi, the statesman said of the Boko Haram problem: “If the Nigerian military dealt with civil war, why are they not able to deal with Boko Haram?”

The military man did not delve into the postponement of the Nigerian election, but did clarify the claim that he criticises President Goodluck Jonathan in his autobiography: “There is nothing I said in the book about Goodluck Jonathan that I haven’t said to Goodluck Jonathan.” The leader did express his belief that African countries can do better at the book launch, which former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga attended.
