The Enugu State Chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in the South east zone yesterday berated the Deputy Senate president, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, for reportedly warning that revolution may be imminent in Nigeria, should the president Mohammadu Buhari-led federal government fail to soften its ongoing stringent economic policies and style of governance.

The Deputy Senate President had during a recent south-east Peoples Democratic party PDP zonal executive committee meeting held in Enugu, warned that unless the APC led federal government does something urgent about the present harsh economy, the development may lead to a revolution in the country.

But a statement signed by the south east zonal publicity Secretary of the APC, Hon. Hycienth Ngwu, made available to newsmen in Enugu friday, condemned the Deputy senate president’s inciting comments, saying they were uncalled for.

Hon. Hycienth Ngwu, replaced the self-acclaimed South East Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr Osita Okechukwu.

“I read with utmost displeasure the advice to President Muhammadu Buhari on how to manage the Nigerian economy and the attendant repercussion should the President fails to heed the advice, credited to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu”

“I am in doubt whether these statements were actually said by the Deputy Senate President. But if actually he did say them, I would take it that those statements should be discounted as disinformation and political propaganda aimed at drawing attention away from the fact of the matter at hand.

“The facts are that the Nigerian economy was in coma prior to May 29th 2015, the day Muhammadu Buhari was sworn-in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Today, the economy is regaining consciousness and would soon be healthy enough to correct the acute structural imbalances caused to it by the mismanagement of our common resources by the People’s Democratic Party’s leadership from 1999 to May 29th 2015.
