Not many refugees are as lucky as Loveth Itohan, a Nigerian woman, who got so much love from people, days after she arrived Canada with her three children.

In search of a better life, Loveth left her husband in Nigeria with money just enough for an apartment, which had nothing but an old mattress on the floor.

That night, her neighbour who visited and saw the condition of the small family brought blankets and items she could spare and also posted about the family’s situation on a closed Facebook group.

Within few hours, so many people bought goods and groceries, donated clothing, cookware, bedding, snowsuits, furniture and more.

For someone who has never seen snow or experienced such cold, Loveth is so overwhelmed by the show of love and the contribution of her neighbour.

Loveth is worried her refugee claim could be refused, but she is pushing on, settling into her new home and getting to know her new friends.

Although there is still a long list of needed donations, including winter clothing for her six-month-old, a telephone, television, dining room set, sofa, tables and chairs, Loveth is grateful that the community has been kind to her.

“The people here are really good people. They take you as your own. God bless them all for their contributions. For their kindness. For their love. God bless Canada. I have nothing to give them in return, but I ask that God blesses them all. Every day of my life now, I am grateful,” she said.
